Every child deserves a fair chance – no matter where they live.
Across the Pacific, children grow up surrounded by natural beauty, strong cultures, and tight-knit communities. But many still face challenges no child should – like drinking unsafe water, missing out on school, or facing illness without access to proper care.
With nearly half of the Pacific population under the age of 18, these challenges affect an entire generation. In some areas, a third of children are stunted due to poor nutrition and many schools still lack basic toilets or clean water. Access to early learning is limited and climate change is causing more frequent emergencies.
UNICEF has been working across 14 Pacific Island countries for more than 50 years. We partner with communities and governments to deliver immediate help and long-term support.
But we can’t do it without you.
When you become a Pacific Champion, your donation is going straight to where the need is greatest – strengthening health and nutrition, education, access to clean water and ensuring children are supported before, during and after emergencies.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
Schools with proper sanitation and good hygiene facilities help keep children in school and learning! UNICEF, in partnership with Fiji’s Ministry of Health, helped improve sanitation in Nabavatu Village, where Makereta and other girls faced challenges with inadequate bathroom facilities.
UNICEF supported the construction of four new, gender-segregated toilets with clean running water, lockable doors, and proper waste disposal – empowering girls and women with privacy and comfort. We also distributed menstrual hygiene kits, soap and training on hygiene practices and facility maintenance.
Education
We work with governments and communities to train local teachers and create joyful, culturally grounded learning spaces – so more kids get the best start to life and the opportunity to follow their dreams.
In the Solomon Islands, UNICEF supported the Ministry of Education to train teachers in inclusive education - equipping them with coaching skills and practical strategies to support teachers nationwide. Trainers learned how to adapt lessons for diverse learning needs to ensure no student is left behind! This initiative will reach 800 teachers across 7 provinces, helping to create safe, inclusive classrooms for all children – including those with disabilities.
Emergency response
In Vanuatu, Jacklyn’s village was shaken by an earthquake. The water supply was cut off. Soap and buckets were gone. But what worried her most was keeping her 4-year-old grandson, Jonathon, safe. Help arrived with an emergency kit from UNICEF. It gave them clean water and hygiene supplies – but it also gave Jacklyn something deeper: a sense of dignity and hope.
UNICEF can get emergency kits to families within 48 hours to ensure that families have the essentials to stay safe and healthy in the aftermath of disasters. We stay long after to help rebuild schools, restore routines, and give children a safe space to recover.
