Digital Marketing & Optimisation Lead

The Digital Marketing & Optimisation Lead is responsible for leading UNICEF Aotearoa’s digital experience for donors, shaping every aspect of the online journey to maximise engagement and conversion.

 

As the owner of UNICEF’s website and donation funnel, you’ll manage and optimise the digital work programme, using data-driven insights to enhance user experience and drive fundraising growth. You’ll lead digital marketing campaigns across platforms, oversee paid media performance, and ensure UNICEF’s digital presence continues to evolve in line with best practice and donor expectations. This is a pivotal role for a digital leader who thrives at the intersection of creativity, technology, and purpose, driving measurable impact for children around the world.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and execution of UNICEF Aotearoa’s digital strategy across fundraising and marketing platforms.
  • Managing the website work programme to improve donor journeys, optimise conversion, and enhance engagement.
  • Using analytics, user tracking, and testing (A/B, multivariate) to identify and implement UX and performance improvements.
  • Planning and optimising digital fundraising campaigns across paid and owned channels, ensuring strong ROI.
  • Overseeing data collection, tracking, and reporting to evaluate campaign and channel performance.
  • Working closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver innovative, integrated digital experiences.
  • Providing strategic advice on SEO, SEM, social, and display performance to maximise results and efficiency.

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • 10+ years’ experience in digital marketing, fundraising, or donor acquisition, ideally within the not-for-profit or fundraising sector.
  • Strong experience leading digital strategy, managing websites, and improving online conversion and engagement.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with developers and technical teams to deliver enhancements and optimisations.
  • Hands-on experience in UX/UI improvement, A/B testing, and digital analytics tools such as Google Analytics, HotJar, Optimizely, or VWO.
  • Demonstrated success in managing paid digital campaigns across Google Ads, Meta, and other major platforms.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • A collaborative, innovative mindset and a passion for using digital to create meaningful impact.

Head of Campaigns and Communications

As the Head of Campaigns and Communications, you will lead the strategic direction and delivery of all external communications for UNICEF Aotearoa. You’ll ensure our voice is consistent, compelling, and true to our mission, driving awareness, deepening engagement, and achieving powerful fundraising outcomes.

 

This senior leadership role oversees media and reputation management, digital and social content, campaign development and execution, ambassador engagement, and digital performance. You’ll be part of the Senior Leadership Team, shaping organisational strategy and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in fundraising and communications.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading the organisation’s marketing, media, and communications strategy to grow awareness, engagement, and income.
  • Overseeing integrated, multi-channel campaigns that deliver measurable impact and align with UNICEF’s global mission.
  • Acting as Brand Guardian to ensure consistent, high-quality storytelling and strong brand recognition across all channels.
  • Managing ambassador and influencer engagement to strengthen UNICEF’s credibility and reach.
  • Providing strategic oversight of digital strategy, website optimisation, and paid digital activity to drive fundraising performance.
  • Supporting proactive media engagement and leading crisis communications and reputation management.
  • Driving UNICEF’s emergency appeal communications and ensuring effective donor and public updates.
  • Leading, developing, and inspiring a high-performing marketing and communications team.

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • 8+ years’ senior experience in marketing, communications, or public relations — ideally within NGO, corporate, or media sectors.
  • Strong background in integrated campaign leadership, digital marketing, and media relations.
  • Proven ability to lead strategy, manage budgets, and deliver measurable outcomes across multiple channels.
  • Experience in crisis and reputation management and confident acting as a senior spokesperson.
  • Understanding of bicultural practice and a commitment to embedding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in your work.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A genuine passion for advancing children’s rights and UNICEF’s humanitarian mission.

International Programmes Lead

The International Programmes Lead plays a key role in delivering UNICEF Aotearoa’s international development and humanitarian portfolio. Working in partnership with the New Zealand Government, UNICEF Country Offices, and other partners, this role ensures children across participating countries have the best start in life and thrive in safe, healthy, and nurturing environments.

 

You’ll provide technical expertise in international development, oversee contract and risk management, and ensure UNICEF Aotearoa delivers on its commitments under all public and private sector partnership agreements, including those with MFAT. This role also leads on programme design, monitoring, and delivery, ensuring all activities meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and impact.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Managing UNICEF Aotearoa’s international development programme portfolio, including budgets, contracts, and reporting.
  • Ensuring MFAT and private donor -funded programmes meet all contractual and financial obligations, including monitoring and risk management.
  • Leading the design and development of new programmes and proposals aligned with UNICEF global priorities and donor expectations.
  • Coordinating humanitarian response initiatives and ensuring readiness to respond to emergency funding opportunities.
  • Providing technical expertise and thematic leadership across international development programmes.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including MFAT, UNICEF Country Offices, and sector partners.
  • Representing UNICEF Aotearoa in external forums, inter-agency networks, and public diplomacy activities.

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • 8+ years’ experience in international development, with experience in the Pacific and/or Southeast Asia preferred.
  • Proven ability in programme design, monitoring, and donor reporting, ideally under MFAT’s Negotiated Partnership framework.
  • Strong experience in project and contract management, budgeting, and financial oversight.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with government donors, UN agencies, and NGO partners.
  • Experience leading or mentoring teams and managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
  • A tertiary qualification in International Development, Human Geography, or a related field.
  • Professional qualifications in project or programme management (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, AgilePM) are highly desirable.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive discussions with professionalism.
