About the role

UNICEF’s work is global and your mission is to champion our cause, raise the voices of children and young people, and increase awareness of UNICEF among our audiences.

We are looking for someone inspirational who can create strategy and deliver the day-to-day content for our communications channels. Working alongside the CEO and your Executive Team colleagues, you’ll enjoy creating consistent, integrated media and communications content across all mediums that supports our fundraising and child rights advocacy efforts.

You’ll be in regular contact with your international UNICEF colleagues in order to develop a strong connection to the international brand. Developing and implementing a media relations strategy and forging strong relationships with media and key influencers are also among your main responsibilities.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A qualification in communications, journalism, public relations or other relevant field
  • Senior-level experience (at least 10 years) in a communications and strong understanding of international and New Zealand media, preferably with excellent network of contacts
  • Proven experience creating targeted content
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Ability to work with and influence internal clients at all levels, building trust and credibility
