Rotary: Give every child a future

To celebrate Rotary’s centennial year in Australasia, Rotary clubs are fundraising to immunise 100,000 children across the Pacific

To celebrate 100 years of Rotary in Australasia in 2021 – Rotary aims to immunise 100,000 children across the Pacific.

Despite improvements there remains much to be done to ensure all children receive routine immunisation and healthcare. As a result diseases such as pneumonia and diarrhoea are the leading causes of child mortality across the region. In Kiribati, nearly 1 in 16 children die before their fifth birthday.

Rotary and UNICEF will introduce the following three vaccines –

  • ‍Rotavirus Vaccine to prevent a severe form of diarrhoea;
  • ‍Pneumococcal Congugate (PCV) Vaccine to prevent pneumonia, blood infections (such as sepsis) and meningitis;
  • ‍Human Papilloma virus (HPV) Vaccine to prevent some kinds of cervical cancer.

Your funds will support the procurement of vaccines, the cold chain supplies and other logistics, educate healthcare workers and communities and provide technical support and system strengthening.

UNICEF NZ is a registered charity with the New Zealand Charities Commission (registration CC35979), making all donations tax refundable.
