Internal Communications Lead

About the role

We are looking for someone inspirational who can create a strategy and deliver the day-to-day content for our internal communications channels. This is a brand-new role that would suit someone who is truly looking to make their mark!

As our staff are located across the motu, your mission is to strengthen our internal information sharing and support staff to build a strong sense of belonging. Working alongside our CEO and Executive team, you’ll enjoy shaping internal communications and boosting engagement. You’ll also be in regular contact with your international UNICEF colleagues, meaning you will develop a strong connection to the international brand.

You will bring an eye for continuous improvement, and promote what’s being worked on, who it impacts, and why it’s important. Developing and implementing an internal communications strategy that supports UNICEF Aotearoa’s bicultural journey and conveying knowledge about the Treaty of Waitangi, will be among your main responsibilities. Your excellent writing skills will see you well equipped to convey complex information in plain language that everyone can understand. This will extend to a digital transformation project which will require significant business change communications support.

Coaching team members on communications tools, techniques and channels will not only be a key focus but something you are passionate about and committed to. To be successful, we want to hear about your:

  • Ability to identify communications implications from business plans and initiatives

  • Previous experience in providing quality advice on a range of internal communications and engagement activities

  • Excellent knowledge of communications practice and relevant legislation

  • Ability to work with and influence internal clients at all levels, building trust and credibility
