Our Projects

We support UNICEF projects all around the world!

Our priority areas for supporting international projects are South East Asia and the Pacific Region. We also respond to individual appeals for any country in desperate need of assistance due to conflict or natural disaster.  And we offer support to some projects in other areas, such as Ghana and Tanzania.


Solomon Islands

UNICEF is helping local communities to 'build back better' after the 2007 tsunami and earthquake. We are also ensuring that children get the education they deserve through our Child Friendly Schools Programme. Read more.

Ghana

Hayley Westernra, UNICEF's youngest-ever ambassador, is working on a project that will bring clean water and education to thousands of children and their families in some of Ghana's poorest areas. Read more.

Laos

UNICEF New Zealand was approached by the UNICEF office in Lao Peoples Republic in 2005 for assistance in funding a 5 year project to enhance girls’ education and hygiene. Read more.

Tanzania

UNICEF Ambassadors Gareth and Jo Morgan have helped us fund a UNICEF water project that is taking clean water to thousands of children and their families in 3 districts of Tanzania.  Read more.

Pacific

The number, scale, complexity and duration of natural and man-made emergencies in the Pacific have increased in the past decades. This has resulted in a need for strengthened preparedness and response plans. Read more.

Papua New Guinea

With UNICEF's help, programmes are being set up in PNG that offer advice, support and medicines to prevent mothers passing on AIDS to their babies. Read more.

Timor Leste

UNICEF New Zealand visited Timor-Leste in October 2007 and identified a crucial need to improve the protective environment for Timorese children. Read more.
