State of the World's Children 2008

UNICEF's 2008 SOWC report says community health programmes reduce child mortality.

Strategies that can help reduce the number of children who die before their fifth birthday were highlighted this week, at the launch of UNICEF's flagship report - The State of the World's Children 2008: Child Survival - in Geneva.  While recent data shows a fall in the under-five mortality rate, the report goes beyond the numbers to suggest actions and initiatives that should lead to further progress.
