On the ground in Haiti, after the quake

It has now been six months since the devastating earthquake struck Haiti, killing more than 220,000 people, injuring over 300,000 and displacing millions.

Among the emergency workers to be sent to Haiti soon after the disaster was UNICEF staffer Kent Page.

Kent has written a blog about what he witnessed and the kind of emergency help UNICEF was able to give, in areas like child protection, education, health, and water, sanitation and hygiene.

"Some streets were completely destroyed like it was World War II," writes Kent in his blog. "The scale of need was instant and immense."
