UNICEF New Zealand book launch
UNICEF New Zealand is celebrating the 22nd anniversary of the UNCROC with the launch of the New Zealand publication 'For Each and Every Child - He Taonga Tonu te Tamariki', a picture book explaining children’s rights.
Copies have been gifted to primary and intermediate schools throughout the country. You can purchase your own copy here.
Nelson-based teacher Jayne Nickson said "It's important that children are aware of their rights and it's important parents understand children have rights".
Here are photos from some of the launch events:

University of Auckland Faculty of Education staff listen to a reading of the book, followed by a discussion on how they will integrate For Each and Every Child He Taonga Tonu te Tamariki into their courses.

In Nelson students make paper chains to celebrate the Rights of the Child.

Read and Rights in Hamilton was wildly successful too, just look at the costumes!
The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCROC) is the most widely ratified of all the UN Human Rights Conventions. All countries but one have signed the Convention.
New Zealand’s government is required to uphold the Convention to ensure the best life for children in New Zealand. It is up to adults to protect these rights for children and ensure children grow up in safe and happy environments.
