A Child's View
'Every child has the right to a voice on matters that affect them and have their views taken seriously.' Article 12, United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
UNICEF has been working with 24 Christchurch children to give them the opportunity to share, through digital photography, a child's view on how the earthquakes have affected their lives and their communities. The children participated in workshops led by professional photographer and ICT educator Stuart Hale where they learned basic skills on taking quality digital photos and how to compose a shot to communicate a specific idea. Each child has submitted one of their unique images to this exhibition.
We would like to thank our partners who have generously supported this UNICEF NZ project; UNESCO, Rotary New Zealand and Canon.
UNICEF has also implemented similar projects in Japan and Pakistan.
